2 or 3 bed detached house.
The only Neo Classical house in the Old Village
Central, but secluded Old Village location.
Large courtyard and rooftop terrace.
Amazing sea views.
This is an unusual opportunity to purchase a detached Neo Classical influenced property in the Old Village. It has mains electricity and water and a sterna (water tank). It need some updating, but has the potential to again become a very desirable residence.
The house is accessed along a quiet street, with a small chapel opposite.
Double doors lead into the large
( 9 x 4 m) walled courtyard which is planted with established oleanders and flowering plants.
The courtyard has a stone tiled floor and a bench and table.
Double doors lead from the courtyard into the living room.
A single single door leads inot the single storey extension and houses the shower room and kitchen.
The toilet is currently in a building in the courtyard - OK in the summer, but not for all-year round!
Below: the courtyard as seen from above.
The living room measures 4.25 x 3.75 m and has double doors and a window overlooking the courtyard. It has a stone tiled floor, wooden beamed ceiling, a door to the single storey extension and a door to the downstairs bedroom.
Wooden stairs lead from the living room up to the first floor and have cupboards beneath them. There are also two built-in benches and a strange looking “original feature” in the corner - can anyone tell me what it is?!
The downstairs bedroom ( 4.25 x 2 m)
has a stone tiled floor, wooden beamed ceiling, window to the courtyard and a built-in bed. It currently contains an enormous wardrobe, which makes it look smaller than it is.
To the opposite side of the living room a door leads into a hallway (2.5 x 1.75 m) and from there into the kitchen.
The kitchen (3.75 x 2.25 m) has a marble sink, small window, a few wooden door base units with tiling above, a cupboard built into the wall, a concrete bench (?) and a wonderful fireplace.
Another door leads from the hallway into the shower room, which measures 1..25 x 1.75 m plus the tiled “shelf”. It has a white basin and a shower, which is to the left of the picture.
The outside toilet is actually nicer than you might expect! It has tiled walls and a white toilet. It might be possible to extend the front of the extension out into the courtyard, just enough to create an indoor toilet, next to the shower room, without losing any interior space.
The stairs open into the main bedroom (4 x 3.75 m), with a wooden floor. This room has a window overlooking the courtyard (and sea views), a door onto the front balcony, a door onto the side terrace and a door into the other upper floor bedroom. See below for views from the front balcony, which needs a safety railing.
Above left: to the left, towards Peristera.
Above right: further to the right, across to The Brothers.
Below left: straight ahead.
Below right: to the right; the Old Village and the sea towards Evvia.
Left: the small side terrace, with the stairs going up to the roof terrace.
Unfortunately the area behind this property is currently a building site!
The noisy work is mainly completed, but it does mean that both at this level and on the roof top terrace the solution is to build a wall, to act as a screen.
The small terrace has similar views to the balcony, with improved views across towards Evvia:
Again, these show the views from the left, to the right.
The bougainvillea is an interesting feature. It has grown up through the middle of a metal pole!
Left: the view view to the rear of the roof top, showing building work in progress. This is where it would probably be advisable, now to put a wall. The views are still so spectacular that it would not be a great disadvantage. This property must have one of the best views in the Old Village.
Left and below: the views from the roof top, moving round from left to right, showing the west coast, Peristera, The Brothers, The Old Village and, finally, the closest sea view, over towards Evvia.
With a little work this could easily become a really outstanding Old Village property, with views hard to beat and the added bonus of the large courtyard.
The house has many original features.
It just needs some love and imagination.
This is an opportunity not to be missed!
