Old Village house with 1 bedroom.
Quiet location.
Terrace and garden.
Wonderful sea views.
This beautifully restored 80 square metre stone built property is situated on the lower slopes of the original, oldest part of the Old Village. If you know the Old Village, this house is close to the old school, in a quiet area, with uninterrupted views of the sea. In front of the house there is a large terrace. The area immediately in front of the house has a vine covered pergola and a bench seat and measures 5 x 2.5 m. Another bench seat divides this from the larger, open area which measures 5 x 4.5 m. Both terraces have stone paving.
This is the third in a row of 4 properties and the entrance crosses the terraces of the first 2 properties. The boundary is marked by a wooden gate. The 4th property also has a right of access through the terrace for this house, but is not currently being used.
The entrance door opens into the ground floor living room which measures 4.5 x 3.5 m. This room has a wooden beamed ceiling, stone paved floor, window to the front and Sporades style fireplace. The bench seating can sleep one adult or two children.
The original restored staircase, with dividing hatch, leads up to the main bedroom, kitchen and shower room. You will see that at present both the living room and bedroom are furnished in such a way that they can be used as both living rooms and bedrooms - in other words; 2 bedrooms at night and 2 living rooms during the day!
The bedroom measures 4.5 x 4.25 m, with a Sporades style ceiling, wooden floor, windows and doors to the front and archway to the kitchen (and shower room). As you can see this bedroom is large enough to accommodate both a double bed and a sofa.
Doors from the bedroom lead onto the balcony, measuring 4 x 1.75 m.
The views from this balcony are wonderful!
Left: the actual view from the bedroom doors.
Below: the views to the right over towards Skopelos, straight ahead over Megalos Mourtias bay and to the right, through the tree, towards The Brothers (islands).
As the sun rises over The Brothers and sets towards Skopelos this house enjoys the sun almost all day.
The kitchen (3.25 x 2.5 m) has a tiled floor and a window and door to the rear. There is a good range of units, together with a stainless steel sink, fridge and electric cooker with inset hob. There is even space for a small table and chairs. This property comes furnished and equipped for immediate occupation.
To the rear of the kitchen is a small paved area, ideal for hanging out washing.
This also means that this property is not “attached” at the rear as are many of the Old Village properties.
The shower room, which measures 1.8 x 1.5 m (not including the floor to ceiling storage), has a window to the rear, tiled floor and walls, white toilet and basin, shower and mirrored cupboard. There is a large sterna (water tank) beneath the kitchen and shower room (approximately 22 cubic metres). The house also has mains water.
It is the external space that makes this property particularly attractive and also unusual for a small Old Village house.
Above: two views of the paved terrace, which is sunny nearly all day, but I had to take these photographs when it wasn’t, in order for the sea to look blue, and not be just a “glare”!
From the terrace, steps lead down into the terraced garden, which goes down further than can be seen on these photographs. In addition to this being an unusual feature it also has two functions; it prevents anyone else from building and blocking the views and it also provides the opportunity for the owner to build a single storey studio room. This would increase the size of the accommodation without interrupting the views from the main house. (A two storey building could be built, but this would obscure the view from the existing house.)
The views from the terrace are very similar to the views from the balcony - wonderful! They are also almost completely natural; hardly a house in sight - just boats!
This is considered by many people to be the best location in the Old Village and you can see why!
It is within a few minutes walk of all the amenities in the Old Village, yet in a quiet location, away from all the noise and people in the busier areas.
It faces south, so has sun all day, and also for longer in the evening than many of the Old Village properties.
These factors, together with the amazing views and the garden area, make this a very desirable property.
